The Dean's Corner

Greeting Gryphons!

This is Heather Markward, Dean of the Elementary School at GEMS. Here are a few reminders for the upcoming week. Monday, September 17th, clubs will start in grades 5-8. GEMS after school program, also known as GAP, will start Monday, September 17th for grades K-5. Please join us for 3rd & 4th grades’ first Community Meeting this Tuesday, September 18th from 2:45-3:15. This coming Friday, September 21st grades K-4 will host their first Breakfast with Books from 9:00-9:30.  Right after Breakfast with Books there will be coffee with the counselor from 9:30-10:00 for any parents K-8 that would like a chance to meet our school guidance counselor, Courtney Smoot. Next week, the 7th grade will host visitor Ryan Qualls, who is an expert on the Wright Brothers, as part of the 1908 expedition. We will have professional development days on Oct 4th and 5th so there will be no school.

GEMS Evacuation Update

Dear GEMS Families,

Today we had a bomb threat made at the school and we took the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of everyone. We called the Columbus Police Department and they worked with school administration to investigate the threat and ensure that the building and students were safe.
